Dear Angler,

Happy New Year to both old members and new.

Well, after a long dry summer the water levels became quite low but that was offset by a wet Autumn and so now the water-level in the lake is back to an optimal level for fishing.

You will have noticed that Chris T has done a magnificent job in removing any dead trees from the area and trimming back foliage around the pegs. This has let in a lot of light and it will also hopefully prevent any fishing lines from being caught in the surrounding trees.

The weed is under control and we will continue to add the treatment every month during the growing season as we have found this to be very effective in helping to manage this particular issue.

As a point of notice, we have decided to suspend the option of ‘prospective members’ trying out the lake for a day. This decision has been made as it has become obvious to us that this option was being abused by members of the public who were using it as a day ticket and not adhering to our Terms of Membership which was to the detriment of our actual members. This does not exclude members from bringing a guest to fish with them, but in such circumstances please can you inform us beforehand, and on arrival come to the house and pay the £10 fee before fishing.

We will continue with a membership that runs on an annual basis, lasting for twelve months from the date of joining, and to help facilitate the continued improvements of the lake and its surroundings there will be a small increase in the membership fee to £120 per annum (£110 for concessions) which I hope you will agree is still fantastic value.

As members, please remember to bring your membership cards when you fish.

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2026.

Jane and the Team
